Unless I'm missing something, I think there's a bug with the final level in Wing Commander 3 from GOG. In the final multi-stage mission I get to the point where I'm supposed to run into Hobbes and Thrakhath. Hobbes is there, but Thrakhath is nowhere to be found.

I can beat Hobbes OK, but after that the mission becomes unwinnable. No matter how many of the Sorthaks I destroy, more keep coming. And they fly like suicidal maniacs in close pursuit making it all but impossible not to get rammed. So eventually I run out of afterburner fuel and can't avoid them anymore.

Based on a walkthru I read Thrakhath is supposed to be there as soon as you jump to that nav point.

I've no idea what I've done wrong or if this is just a bug. If it's a bug can someone offer adivce on how to get around it? I really want to beat this game! I'm so close.
Hi, before you decloack use your targeting system to search the area and see if you can find Thrakhath, he should be there but is often far off to one side and at some distance.

If he's not there at all then there must be a bug in your game, another tip is to listen fot him when you decloack I think he has a few taunts for you so that should help hind him.
If you jump to that navpoint uncloaked he just straight up isn't there. If you're cloaked before jumping to the last nav he appears. I have no idea why that is...this game has really lame documentation and explanation of how to use features. Nowhere on the reference card did it even say how to activate the cloak. I just assumed it would kick in automatically based on a mission script.

So I got Thrakhath, though he never did issue any taunts.

But somehow in the process of this I lost my T-Bomb. Not sure if I fired it accidentally or what, but when I got to the planet surface it was missing so I couldn't complete the mission. No time for another run right now. I'll have to finish it up tonight.
It must be Hobbes that has something to say then (lol) I am sure someone has something to say.

I did'nt realise that you were'nt cloacked before, I always cloack as soon as I get it, Just incase you don't know after you kill Thrakhath and reach the planet you should cloack again until you reach the target piont, lock on to the target, then decloak and fire. As for the missing T-Bomb, if you were flying uncloaked all the way you mst have had to do a lot of fighting so you probably did use it with out noticing.
Yeah, I think i accidentally launched it at thrakhath.

I re-ran the mission again and beat it. They do a really terrible job in this game of explaining things. It was definitely from the "read the freaking manual" era of gaming.

If there's a hint that you're supposed to cloak before entering the final waypoint, I definitely didn't pick up on it.

Uncloaked - Swarmed by Sorkaths, Paktahns and Thrakhath is a no-show

cloaked - just Hobbes, Thrakhath and a couple of Paktahns.

Once I got that figured out, beating the game wasn't hard. You're right, though. the final mission is way easier if you just stay cloaked the whole time. It's almost unfairly easy, actually.
lol, unfair perhaps, but in some ways much more realistic after all you are at Kilrah, the home base if you are not cloaked they would but up a whole fleet to stop you in real life ( if there is such a thing as "real life" in games) so the only way to win would be to be cloaked.

Your right about the manuals, but one small mater is that some times the manuals were part of the game itself, by reading them you not only learned the controls but the history/story behind the game as well as odd facts about the NPC's and ships and other maters. Personaly I think that the idea behind this was to help draw you into the game and make is a more complete experiance, consider that WC3 and 4 were advitsed as "intractive movies" not games as such.
I have had similar problems as you have had with this mission.

However, I have yet to figure out how to cloak in this mission. Would you please help me out? I was under the impression that it was an option in the weapons VDU, but I couldn't find it as a gun or as a missile. The manuals weren't helpful in resolving it either.

Thanks!
