Hi there folks!

I've heard a lot about how WC1 is a hard and difficult game etc., but I haven't realized it until now. I managed to get to the Dakota system and first mission seems impossible to beat.

Seriously, 5 Salthis and 3 Krants against 2 Raptors and defensless freighter?? And if I survive that, then 3 Jalthis and another shitty freighter at the second nav-point? How am I supposed to beat that? Besides, it looks like Knight is pretty average wingman (good old Paladin or Angel, they kicked ass hard!).

Emulation via DosBOX has adding to it pretty much, too - slow in massive combats, fast in solo dogfights, incredibly fast during transport between nav-points. I'm getting a suspicion that of my guns' charging speed is slower during big fights, therefore my performance is not as it should be. And I just can't switch CPU cycles all the time on diferent values FGS!.

Is there someone who had accomplished this misson and give me some hints, please?
well I had those problems in my first and unique playground of the game. I don´t remember this specific mission but sometimes its better to avoid most fights and run for the objective than destroying then all
Yeah I know that, but the objective in this particular mission is escorting/defending those freighters, so dogfight is inevitable. The enemy is focused either on shooting freighter, meaning I'm relatively safe and able to shoot them down one by one, or enemy is focused on myself and my wingman, meaning I am screwed because they are all shooting at me at will and I have a lot work to make it out alive.
I play WC1 on SNES emulator. Not as buggy and I don't insto-die in asteroid/minefields. I know the DOS emulation of this game is causing issues, and overall the PC version feels harder. I'm not asking for an easy game, I think emulation is just screwing with this game and the way it was coded. Remember Mechwarrior 2? Too fast of a computer and your mech would start bouncing off the ground and stuff since something in the physics was coded to be based on your PC speed.
