I am having problem with all ships except the arrow. the controls for the arrow ship work great but in every other ship at a certain point the down and left keyboard arrow key stops moving the ship. what is strange is the animation shows the pilot turning the flight stick down and left but the actual ship will not move one inch, I cant even line up an enemy cap ship

I met the same bug. Just a curious if somebody found a reason of this after years.

Yes, this is odd. Same thing here on both the GOG and EA Origin version. Both in dosbox though. Very annoying. The game is indeed bugged. Only solution is to play the whole game with Arrow? Is the game beatable?

Have you tried activating / deactivating the alternate flight mode (in the options menu, ALT+O during flights, option "alt. flt. mode")? I played through the entire game and never had your problem.
