I recently got this game and since I have a Roland MT-32 I would like to use it for the game. I noticed the GOG version lacks the install.exe the game uses for sound configuration and an earlier thread on this showing how to enable it for WC2 worked for WC1 but the Secret Missions wouldn't load as a result. So, how would I go about enabling Roland MT-32 music for the first game with the Secret Missions working as well.

Disregard my post, managed to figure out what the issue was and got it working.

SpooferJank: can you please mention what you did to get the Mt-32 working?

I am trying to do the same.

For Wing Commander open up the WINGCMDR.CFG file and the CRUSADE.CFG file. Replace the a904 with an r in both config files. The same works for Wing Commander II by opening up WC2.CFG and replacing a904 with an r.
Great thanks. How did you find this out?

I found out how to in another forum thread but it was for Wing Commander II only. I had to figure out how to do it with the first game myself with some trial and error.

Is GOG still doing this or maybe it's an older installer. They helpfully removed "useless" files, e.g. install.exe, in a number of the Sierra games until people complained/contacted them about it. I believe they fixed it for those games.

Or maybe I'm thinking of this?

The new release has the install.exe for Wing Commander II, but lacks it for the first game.
yah it's not a useless file, The first one really needs it so people can stop asking about what random characters for people to put in the .cfg file. Also to explore some of the games other features like EGA support (a simple config file e instead of v wont work as the installer had to change the game files aswell)
