I'm pretty disappointed with GOG at the moment, in selling me products that don't work without tinkering and headaches. Couldn't all the config file tinkering have been done by them? Shouldn't that be part of the product they are selling me? What am I paying for again?
Anyway, I can't get Privateer working right. With the shipped config, it just crashed right after startup. I looked online and tried some other configs people listed. One of them allowed it to run without any crashing (so far) but there is no music, and the sound clips only play for a fraction of a second and stop. I tried tinkering with the configs further, such as changing to basic sound blaster with IRQ7, then IRQ5, and it was no help. I tried changing from overlay to DDraw and that didn't seem to help (that helped for Ultima 4 so I figured I'd try it.)
If anyone has a working privateer config file, can you paste it? What about the install.exe, do I need to run this and when? Is there some reason one dosbox config file couldn't be universal for us all, other than perhaps CPU speed tweaking?
