I have edited the dosboxWC.conf file in the WC folder. However none of the settings seem to be taking effect, because the 4000 cycles are still being used from the default configuration, even though that line is CLEARLY marked out with a preceding # and a statement of my own slowing it to cycles=2000.

I'm a technical guy so this is driving me nuts: Among other things I have checked the shortcut for the game to make sure that it's referencing the same config file that I have edited; in case anyone asks there are no other dosboxWC.conf files anywhere on my drives (I did a search to make sure some cached version is not being referenced).

I have edited DOSBox conf files before for other games maaaaany times, so I am very familiar with the process and this is throwing me for a loop. There's probably something simple I'm overlooking, but I can't think of what that might be.
