I have weird keyboard issues in wc1 and 2.

In WC1, if I press multiple keys at some point, they all stay down until all the keys I've pressed have been released. For instance if I hit my right arrow and hold down space bar and let go of the right arrow while still holding down the space bar, my ship will continually turn right and fire.

In WC2, it seems the opposite occurs, it only allows me to press one button at a time, I can't move and shoot at the same time.

Anybody else run into weird keyboard behavior like this and/or have any ideas how to fix it?
I have the same issue. I've gotten around this problem by using the mouse instead of the keyboard exclusively, but I'd prefer to use the keyboard because I'm bad at steering with the mouse. I would love to know if anyone has figured out how to fix this.
I'm also having trouble with this in Wing Commander 2. Does anybody know how to fix this?
Bump; same problem here when trying it today. Makes it that I can only fire one shot per 2-3 seconds (lasers, etc.)
I'm having this same issue, playing on a macbook with built in keyboard. It'd be great to have a fix for this.
The response from GOG support:

Hello

The issue with keyboard controls you are having is the way the game works, mouse steering is an alternative and I'm unable to help you.
So it's not a bug, it's a feature.

Given that the game runs in dosbox, there really isn't much anyone could do about it. It's hard written into the base code of the game.
Not to mention that these are DOS games that are essentially written directly to the hardware, no device drivers, so the game itself probably has the keyboard handler built into it.

I doubt that's true. It doesn't seem to be an issue for all users. My guess is it's an issue with the interface between the game and DosBox/Boxer, which could be fixed. Whether it's worth it to GOG to put the effort in is another matter.

it would be nice though.
I have found this has happened to me as well, I use the tab button for afterburners. And sometimes I press the caps lock button by accident, I have found repressing this gives me control of my ship again. I am not sure if that is what is causing it though, but it has been working for me.

Humor aside, this is definitely not the behavior that WC1/WC2 displayed natively. I'm guessing it's either something to do with keyboard support in DosBox, or perhaps something to do with the keyboard controllers in modern keyboards, or some weird interaction between the two?

Has anyone tried playing the game on a high-end gaming keyboard (like a WASD or something) to see if that fixes the problem?

Bump. Its not a feature, I played this game to death as a kid with keyboard and 386 and this is an issue with the GoG -version that wasn't in the original. Fix would be appreciated!
