I purchased WC 1 and 2 some time ago and I've decided that now is the time to play them. However, I only own a generic Genius joystick that makes the game almost impossible because of the dead-zone and high sensitivity. I've tried the fixes suggested but none of them work, so I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the T.Flight Stick X, which is the only Thrustmaster stick available down here where I live (Chile). I've seen several posts talking about the T.Flight Hotas X and I would like to know if the T.Flight Stick X works in a similar way with WC1 and 2 (and hopefully the rest of the saga). Would it be smart to buy this joystick or would I have the same problems that the Genius joystick causes?

I know very little about joysticks in general, so any information you have will be helpful

That's odd, WC1+2 rely on very coarse joystick inputs so a bad joystick shouldn't give too much trouble.
What you could try though is open the Dosbox .conf with notepad and see if:

[joystick]
timed=false

Also check your calibration in the gamecontrollerpanel in Windows.

As for the Thrustmasters, note that WC1+2 are old games and they don't support independent throttle and rudder axis, so I don't see the value of a separate throttle, at least for these games.
May I suggest you take a look at the T.16000M as well, these spaceflightsims are real loadtest and this is a very durable stick that doesn't have electrical components that wear out and it's for a reasonable price (40-50 USD). I've owned quite a few sticks and this is one of the better ones, especially for the price.

I've already experimented a little with the timed=true/false settings, different joystick types and changing the number of cycles. I've also used the Windows and in-game calibration and none of it has worked. For some reason, the only thing that slightly fixes the problem is moving the mouse cursor a little on each game screen before using the joystick. I tried playing with the keyboard and it's 10x more precise than my joystick, lol.

I'll check out the joystick you recommended, thanks.
