Hi,

has anyone tried to implement any of the WC Prophecy patches (OpenGL, Enhancment pack, high quality movie packs - http://www.wcnews.com/news/update/7428) to the GOG version of the game with any luck? I've tried them all but as soon as I install any of them my game either doesn't start at all, starts as a black screen or all the movies are skipped and game itself gets stuck. Just wandering if anyone had more luck and could give any tips on how to aproach it. It'd be great to at least improve the quality of the movies especially that they're all freely available.

I have tried the OpenGL 1.2 patch, and it works for me (looks great too, and cleans up some of the FMV a bit) as long as I keep FSSA and Anisotropery set to Zero (otherwise I just get a black screen, with audio after it presumably skips the intro. But I haven't had any luck with the DVD bundle upgrade (replaces a DLL) as it now keeps asking me for disc 1 upon start up. I'd really love to get those DVD videos working, but I'm content with the OpenGL patch for now.

hey thanks for the tip:)

I've tried installing the OpenGL patch but had the same problem with the black screen. I'll try the settings you mentioned and hopefully it'll also work for me fine:) It'd be great to implement high quality movies but I can live without them (same issue with asking for the 1st CD). Anyway I got them all downloaded so I can always just come back to some scenes and re-watch them separately afterwards:P

Thanks again!
I cannot post links, so i'll just copypaste here post by PopsiclePete from WC CIC forums (thread "BREAKING: WC Prophecy on GOG", post #14):

"Ok, after a few tests I can tell you you can get GoG's Prophecy working with HCl's DVD patch:
(I have only tested it in Windows 7, Windows XP users may have a different result with step 4)

1. Install GoG Prophecy
2. Download HCl's WCP Enhancement Package, and unzip the files straight into the WCP folder. Make sure you DON'T overwrite Prophecy.exe or WCPHR.DLL
3. Install Pedro's OpenGL Package
4. Right-click on Prophecy.exe, select "Properties", "Compatibility" tab, and remove the "Win98" compatibility flag. Make sure you also click on the "All users settings" button at the bottom and remove it there too.
5. Download the DVD movies, and unzip them into a folder called "Movie" in the WCP folder.

Current limitation: The DVD movies only work in OpenGL mode."

I followed these steps, it worked for me.

Damn, still got the Black-Screen problem when the german-HiQ movies start, sound is there but black screen.

Running on Windows 8.1 - Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 latest Driver... any idea?
I installed the movie patch following the gog instructions and the movies show up with no audio. It might be a codec issue since I do not have any external codecs installed (I use VLC). Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance

I have a prob with step 4. Whenever I try to change compatibility mode, the Win 98 is greyed out and I can't change it. It's weird because I am the admin. Anyone else run into this?

I forgot to go to the "all users" tab. From there it lets you remove Compatibility mode.

I tried and tried, but i got only 2 kind of result.

- Game ask me to insert cd ! (i overwrite gog version of prophecy, exe) this is easy to fix.

But then i downloaded these files from wcnews.com and to everything that is asked to do in this thread.

- When game runs, it still shows me these cd-rom version grappy videos.

Can't get it to work here, have installed AC3 filter on Windows 8.. Movies are now running as a black screen with sound. Tried the VOB Patch and now it's just a video of grey :(
How do you remove the black bars on the top and bottom. The video stretches to the left and right, which doesn't bother me. But it also adds black bars on the top and bottom. The thing is, the video itself is formatted for 4:3 screens. So when it stretches left and right and then adds black bars to top and bottom, it ends up chopping off portions of the picture.

Black bars on top and bottom are always only used when playing 16:9 format videos on 4:3 screens. This patch is treating it the opposite way round and it's chopping the video as a result. Is there any way to fix this.

An idiot's question: How do I get rid of the weave artifacts in the DVD videos under WC5? Which codec does WC5 use for playing the DVD videos? I have tried fiddling with ffdshow via Zoom Player (in order to gain access to ffdshow's properties stuff) and forced de-interlacing as well as tried out a couple of de-interlacing configuration options but this did not have any effect on video playback in WC5.

I'm having the same issue. Followed the instructions to a T, but only have audio during movie playback
