When I try to install I get an MoveFile failed; code 5 error, stating that the prophecy.exe file cannot be moved
Have tried disabling AV software etc per a quick google search, but would appreciate any other advice people have to offer

Never mind, AV needed a proper kicking and then all was well

What was this proper kicking? I'm using Bitdefender and can't figure out how to make it accept this install. Getting the same Code 5 error when it gets to prophecy.exe

You can try temporarily disabling real-time protection. After re-enabling it you'll get some sort of warning about the detection from which you can add it to the exclusions.

Failing that you could add Prophecy's installation folder to the excluded files and folders; by default this is C:\GOG Games\Wing Commander Prophecy - Gold\Prophecy
