I've recently had the game speed increase by about 50%, which is still playable, but rather jarring. The odd thing is that I didn't do anything to cause this; nothing in dosboxPRIV.conf has been changed.

Is there any way to throttle the game down?

EDIT: Never mind, it turns out that it's because I had my PS2-to-USB converter plugged in and it was actually running at normal speed because of that.

I remember having big problems trying to get optimal speeds playing WC1 & WC2 through DOSbox in the past. I think WC1 was as good as I could get it if I set the core to "normal" and used 8000-10000 cycles in the config. Though, with WC2, I could not get it to run at a consistant and acceptable frame-rate.

Then I managed to get the 'Kilrathi Saga' version of the games, which, back in the day, had been re-coded to run the games flawlessly through Windows rather than DOS.

It's a shame that GOG could not get their hands on the Kiltrathi Saga from which to base their versions off of.

Agreed. I still have the kilrathi saga versions and other than some odd colour problem which comes and goes a few times each mission. the games run great, no speed problems at all.

I hope that eventually they will be released on GOG as extras or at least free to those who bought the dos versions as they are a pain to play having to continually keep altering the cycles.

Try around 5300 cycles. I've been playing WC2 in DOSbox prior to this and after quite a bit of experimentation found it to be the best compromise spot.
