Kinda wondering if there are more ship upgrades offered as the game progresses. Seems kinda odd to be able to fit out a badass Centurion from completely within the starting system, leaving that aspect of the game untouched for the remainder of play. While I haven't hit nearly all of the systems to see what their dealers offer, and am not far into the story, I'm curious if we will see more stuff available for sale later on, or if it's more like Tayla's cargo expansion, dribbled out here and there. Some other threads make it seem like there isn't much more to be had.
As far as ship equipment goes, what you see in Troy is what you get. Except for one upgrade from the story line and one other item very late in the story line. Righteous Fire adds lots more equipment and weapon upgrades. Hopefully GoG will get RF soon.
Thanks for the info.

I wonder why they didn't spread the upgrades out a bit. Makes most money-earning pointless except for the odd repair and restocking your missile launchers.
When Privateer came out most players played it on their own, without any outside help or advice. If you leave Troy and start the story line early the game is much tougher. It can be a real work out trying to get enough credits to get necessary upgrades and complete missions. Long ago when I first played it I did the story all the way to New Constantinople (sp) in a Tarsus. Took me forever with lots of reloads.

Went real fast knowing how things worked when I played it again.
Good point, and I suppose the media and PC hardware limitations might have made it difficult to have independently-stocked ship dealers.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that this was made almost twenty years ago...
