Hi all, my first post here.

I'm about halfway thru Privateer game, I guess. Just finished the Oxford quests, one fighting 4 hunters was very hard, had to repeat 4 times.

I'm now north in the Palan system, where the blockade is going. I took the first mission from the Basra chick, to stop the reinforcements. OMG I killed like 15 hunters before they whacked me. That's ridiculous!!! Might as well be a trillion hunters :(

I currently have a fully pimped Centurion, and have gotten pretty good at saving missiles, and turning repeatedly, slowly wearing down the enemy. However, it only takes them a few lucky shots to knock me down quickly.

I have the funds, I'm thinking of switching to a fully pimped out Orion, which can take much more of a beating, so I can survive longer. Any thoughts on this?

What have others done?

I hate to restart the really long missions. 15 hunters is a lot to kill, even fully pimped.

... but don't switch to Orion! It's a slow and BIG shooting target with far smaller chance to survive than Centurion (with Tachyon guns).

It gets even tougher, actually. I was doing the Gamma or whatever the one is right before Delta Prime mission and there are at least 15 kilrathi you have to fight. And one of them is the Kamekh. The battleship. Surprisingly, it was easier than the others to defeat. But, I got almost to the end and then died.

And I agree, the Orion doesn't help. Not worth losing a missile launcher to be slower, but better armored and shielded.

Are you kidding me? This mission is hard in a Tarsus with engine/shield upgrade 1 (still beatable, though). But with a fully loaded Centurion..? Are you playing the actual game or the remake?

A tip is to fly into the asteroid field between Palan and Basra. As long as you can handle that yourself.

I was able to finish privateer in Tarsus without using cheats. In Centurion is almost too easy.
On the other hand, I've been playing this great game for a long time in my life.

Use afterburner frequently.

Evade missiles

Use 4 tachyon guns

Don't get shot in the back or it's all over

Use ITTS, 'i' key to turn it on (only the best radars have it)

Never use your turret guns in combat
