ncarty97: Thanks. I can't listen to the podcast (at work). Does he explain WHY they are concerned they might not be legally allowed to release them? Seems strange.
The lawyers were specifically interested in finding materials (such as gold master discs and the like) that would prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that EA owned the rights to the data and code of the expansions. They wanted answers to questions like "Do we have the master discs sealed and numbered in our archives?" or "How can we prove that this is our code?"
Barnett doesn't (probably can't) go into more detail here, but it seems like EA simply want to be sure that they won't get into any trouble over some (hypothetical) old license agreement that nobody knows about anymore.
