Howdy guys,

I used to spend hours on Privateer in the early 90's and want to buy a copy here on gog but have a few questions first. Do i have to download Dosbox also or does the game run as is? I am on a 64 bit windows 7 based system built for MMo gaming. I really want to play Privateer but i haven't messed with Dos based games in many many years. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Every DOS game on GoG comes with DOSBox pre-set up so you don't have to play with the configs unless you have technical difficulties, which are rare. You just install the game and select the shortcut like any normal game. I use XP so I don't know if it's Windows 7 compatible. I'm sure someone else will chime in on that.

GoG doesn't have the rights to the expansion though. If you want that you'll need the expansion files and have to do some editing that's tricky if you don't know what you're doing. There is a help topic for getting Righteous Fire working with the GoG version though.
Thanks for the responce!! Downloading now....
Just wanted to give an update on Privateer install and playing. Could not be easier!! I love the way they bundle the dos enviroment with the game. Just click and play.

Thanks Gog!!

BTW... went and bought a joystick today. There was no way i was gonna play this game without one. Takes me back to a simplier time!
