I think I have a video problem on my Win8 laptop.

I've installed the most recent version, as well as going back and installing the last two I have. Install runs fine, but when I launch (either from the setup window, or from the desktop icon) I get a light blue screen with an obviously new pointer. Sometimes I'll see some black region flash on startup in the lower middle section of the screen, which I think is probably the main menu, because if I click in that region, I can get sounds that make it seem like I'm selecting something.

That's it. Blue screen, game pointer, maybe an invisible menu region, sometimes some kind of swishing sound on a mouse click. I'm thinking there must be something more to the game. ;)

Any suggestions?

Hold the "Shift" button while launching the game. It will bring up the Unity start-up screen. Play with the resolution, maybe that helps. :)
Thanks for the suggestion.

Tried all the options to no avail. Searching the net, I found it's a common problem with this model of HP laptop. Guess it's just not going to work on it.

Installed straight up on my desktop, though.
How much I hate that...

The Unity as engine is good but easily become unstable. The developers often make mistakes during the basic options and Windward isn't an exception. Most of the other Unity games I encountered also suffer these problems and there are games I still can't try, no matter how modern is the PC I have.
