This game looks so awesome! When is it coming out? Next week? Please let it be next week!
Well, as long as it's coming out on GOG, it's worth the wait.
nooooooo...
it didn't come out..
I'm betting it's related to the fact that scummvm lists this game as 10% compatability... most notably the fact that the music isn't working. Probably once this issue is worked out the game will be released.
Odd, it apparently works fine on DOSBOX.

Well, it has to, and soon. If not people may go postal. GOG needs a horror themed game! Waxworks will work just perfectly for some time.. until we get Silent Hill series.. I hope :-)
The game does have an ancient form of copy protection (password) ...gonna be interesting to see how they dealt with that.

Waxworks is listed as 10% supported under ScummVM, since no one has actually confirmed it is completable under ScummVM.
Unfortunately the music format used by Waxworks (DOS version) isn't documented anywhere, and currently disabled under ScummVM due to been unstable.

GoG have been provided with updated executable file, with the copy protection disabled, so that shouldn't be an issue.

And you know this how?

Because I provided them.
So is there no music in the GoG-version of Waxworks?
There is music, its old midi stuff, but some of its genuinely creepy, and all of it fits the theme of the area your in.
It seems to run quite well, I've had no problems at all, and I played it using OpenGL and Direct3D from the GOG graphics options setting that comes with the game.
The manual is nice, and in full color, and details everything you need to know to play.
The copy protection feature is still in the game. A page added to the beginning of the manual said to enter the code 1275 for any password protection events, but just to see I entered random numbers and it let me through. It seems the password protection, while still in the game, has been disabled.

The GoG version of Waxworks, uses Dosbox (not ScummVM), so music is available.

The copy protection screen is still shown, but the actual copy protection is disabled. So any code will be accepted, by the copy protection screen.

Hehe, see? It's these little bits of information that makes statements like the above one sound credible rather than pure assumption ;-)
[EDIT] Did you work on the game yourself? I'm wondering whether I might get a comment on my Ur-Quan comparison from the other thread :-D
