Is there any way to configure the DOSBox settings to decrease the audio level in WaxWorks?

Does the gog version of this game use the internal pc speaker or have they got it working with normal speaker system?

Hmmm, as far as I know, Waxworx utilizes sound card installed in your computer. Probably if there is no sound card it will use PC speaker instead. But as far as sound card is installed, you can lower it's volume in the same way as in WinAmp, Windows Media Player or any other game.

using the MIXER command it should be possible.
MIXER MASTER 50:50 should halve all sound levels generated by dosbox
