When I start the game all I get is a black screen with an arrow and broken sound.
Iv've tried all 5 graphic settings and an error message kicks in. DOSBox Emulator has encountered a problem.
Has this happened to anybody else? Any help would be appreciated

I read somewhere on this forum that replacing the sdl.dll in the DOSBox directory with the one from http://libsdl.org made it work for somebody.
If that doesn't work I would advice you to contact GOG support

Thank you very much,but I'm not sure how to do that, and I'm afraid to screw up my computer.
I have contacted support, but after my last email I have not received a response. I would like to play the game. Unfornunately I don't see any option of getting my money back. Thank you for taking the time.

I'm having the exact same problem, black screen with a flashing underline in the top left corner, I've got a mouse but nothing else.
Any idea how to sort this out or get my money back?

Bumping this, but I just bought the game and I too have this issue. What a shame.

New operating system (7) and now it runs. The sound glitches periodically but as I say the game works now when it didn't with Vista. Impossible to explain, really, especially as 7 and Vista aren't exactly unalike.

When I first ran the game I got the same black screen and just a visible pointer like you guys. The default graphics setup is OpenGL which probably causes this. I changed it to Direct3D and now it works perfectly. I only get some minor sound glitches occasionally. You can change the graphics settings from Start Menu=>GoG.com=>Waxworks=>Graphics Mode Setup. Hope this helps.

changing to Direct 3D worked for me as well!

I have this same problem, but by default it was on surface graphic mode, changed it to Direct3D but still same problem.
