When I right click on a weapon with a char that has weaponsmithing as a skill I do not appear to have any option to strip it down for parts. Remove barrel ect are all at zero percent. Can only certain guns be broken down or do I need to find a bench or something. I'm clearing Highpool at the moment and his skill is currently at 3.

You can strip down almost anything for parts. If it has "Strip for Parts" option when you right click on the item, it can be stripped. However, it doesn't mean you'll get useful parts out of everything, and depending on your skill, percentage on getting useful parts can be really low. It also depends on the level of the weapon versus the skill level. Some items can only be broken down without ever having the option of giving you any useful mods no matter how high your skill in Weaponsmithing. Can't really expect to get Sturdy Mag out of a nail plank. But even parts from the broken weapons are of some use as you can sell them at the Ranger Citadel for a hefty price. There are no crafting benches in the game.

The remove barrel/mag/etc... option is only for when you've already installed mods on a weapon, to try and recover them. To get mods from new weapons you need to pick the strip down to parts option.
Which, by the way, is a better option than just selling the weapon because parts sell for more than weak weapons at the ranger citadel, while mods can be pretty useful to boost your own weapons.
Thank you, when I see the options now it's obvious. I have no Idea why I did not see those (strip for parts, ect) boxes, I can only assume it is because those sections are outside of the boxed section with the gun info and I somehow just didn't notice them.
