I have some issue starting Wasteland 3 with my linux machine.

I start the application, the program shows the credits (deep silver, in exile, etc), gets to a load screen (I would assume, it is an image with three rangers a loading start on the right) and then it shows a black screen (the cursor is in-game rendered), and it stays stuck there.

Looking at the player log ([USERHOME]/.config/unity3d/InxileEntertainment/Wasteland 3/Player.log), it is reported

Unable to preload the following plugins:
libAkSoundEngine.so

and then dozens of warning/related messages where the game is trying to load as fallback AkSoundEngine, libAkSoundEngine, libAkSoundEngine.so from a folder that does not exists in the linux installation (e.g. [GAMEFOLDER]/game/Wasteland 3_Data/Mono/libAkSoundEngine)

I had issue with that library in a different game (i.e. the shipped library would not work), so I have tried to substitute [GAMEFOLDER]/game/Wasteland 3_Data/Plugins/libAkSoundEngine.so with a working version, but I still get the same error.

Did you had a similar problems/know any workarounds?

Ok, apparently using the originl libAkSoundEngine.so and adding a libSDL2-2.0.so (it is unmentioned in the log) from a somewhere else (i got the one from jupiter hell) to [GAMEFOLDER]/game/Wasteland 3_Data/Plugins does the trick, i.e. I can get to the main menu.

I cannot check now if I can actually play it, things seems promising but the log is full of lines like

Fallback handler could not load library [GAMEFOLDER]game/Wasteland 3_Data/Mono/libudev.so

and warning regarding missing referenced script objects on various behaviours. Hopefully that stuff is not needed.

For those of you who, like me, stumble on this problem, know that, indeed, you need libsdl2-2.0-0 which you can more safely get from your Linux distribution's package manager. As of the time of writing, it is available and fully compatible with the latest LTS version of Ubuntu.
