ancient46: I had my game updated to 2.4.0.15 patches and when I installed this new patch it broke the game, The update lasted less than a minute and reported it was successful. I had to uninstall, and download and install 2.4.0.13. I ran the new patch which took a significant longer time and it did not crash the game. Is there something wrong with the patch updating from .15?
The only issue I've come across with the patching process is that:
"patch_wasteland2_2.4.0.15.exe" allows you to proceed after
"patch_wasteland2_2.3.0.12.exe"...
But before
"patch_wasteland2_2.4.0.13.exe" and
"patch_wasteland2_2.4.0.14.exe" have been installed
Doing so results in a borked installation - I needed to completely reinstall the game in the following order:
setup_wasteland2_2.0.0.8.exe
-> patch_wasteland2_2.2.0.11.exe
-> patch_wasteland2_2.3.0.12.exe
-> patch_wasteland2_2.4.0.13.exe
-> patch_wasteland2_2.4.0.14.exe
-> patch_wasteland2_2.4.0.15.exe
-> patch_wasteland2_2.4.0.16.exe
It's rather irritating to have to install that many updates as it takes bloody ages =\
Couldn't GoG make xdelta updates available on each of the main installer files? (similar to
InXile)
i.e. setup_wasteland2_2.0.0.8.exe --> XDELTA --> Latest installer exe
setup_wasteland2_2.0.0.8-1.bin --> XDELTA --> Latest installer bin 1
etc... Re-installing the latest version of game is a lot less painful than having to download 10GB+ every time for all these newer games to get a new installer
OR having to install tons of incremental patches.
The size of the patches keeps ballooning too - around 2GB's so far!
Compare that to a
(simpler) game like Dead State where each patch has replaced it's predecessor. It's enough to simply install:
setup_dead_state_2.0.0.1.exe
-> patch_dead_state_2.0.4.5.exe (latest v.1.0.0.134)
