I never got around to trying the DC version till now, mainly because I was concerned about all the bugs at release. I kickstarted WL2 way back 'cause I really admired the attempt at a sequel.

Anyway I installed it and tried it today.

Launch game, get the startup screen and the spinning star on the top left. That's it.

Attempted solutions:
Checked for driver updates. I can't imagine this making a difference after 8? years but did it anyway.
Full uninstall, defrag, re-install.
-forced3d9
Changed permissions on the save folder (which apparently WL2 sets to read only and hidden.)
Turned off all anti-virus.
Ran directly from prompt w/o using gog galaxy.

My system is 2 months old (win 11) and has all updates.
Should I try running in Win7 mode?

Anyone have a workaround? My search-fu has come across the same issue on steam, with similar fixes.

Thanks in advance!

You can try this:

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Wasteland_2

Launch game elevated

1. Go to <path-to-game>\Build, right-click on WL2.exe and select Properties.
2. Open the Compatibility tab select and enable "Run this program as an administrator".
3. Click OK twice to save the settings and close the windows.

Notes: If the game still doesn't start, repeat this and change other compatibility settings (e.g. "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" or "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings").
