Linux users, are you tired of re-downloading the whole 10GB every time the game is updated? There is a post titled "Unsupported Semi-official Alt. Steam Patches" on the inXile forums that provides smaller patches for the Linux and Mac versions.
The Unsupported Semi-official Wasteland 2 Patches Project need YOUR help!

I’m so far the only beta-tester of these patches, and if we want fully working high-quality patches I will need some help.
So, if you’re a Linux user, interested in getting small patches for upgrading Wasteland 2 instead of re-downloading the whole game at each iteration, you might be the one we are looking for!

Right now we are encountering some problems with the 1.5.0.9 (3.1) to 1.6.0.10 (4.1) patch, so if you kept your 1.5.0.9 .tar.gz archive in a corner, you can help greatly to get this patch fully working as soon as possible.
Once the problem with this patch is worked with, I’m going to start the process of building patches allowing to upgrade any GOG-published version of Wasteland 2 (1.0.0.4, 1.1.0.5, 1.3.0.7, 1.5.0.9, 1.6.0.10) to the latest build (1.7.0.11). The nightmare of re-downloading endlessly dozens of gigabytes is coming to an end…

Should you be interested to take part in the adventure, just follow the link jimnms gave in his opening post, read the thread and join tonurics and I in the process of building optimized patches for this great game ;)
You don’t need any particular skill to join us, we will be happy to explain how to use them, how to report them, and even how to build them yourself if you so desire.

See you soon on inXile boards!

-----

jimnms: I hope you don’t mind me for hijacking your thread ;)
And should you be interested in helping us testing and polishing the patches, you’re of course welcome!
I can provide some help in theory, but sadly I didn't keep any old archives :/ But I'll try to keep them starting from help and help with the next patch.

Thank you!
Please give us a heads up in the inXile forums, tonurics will be happy to learn that we’re not alone ;)
Sorry for the noise...
I'm actually trying to create new topic, but I'm not able to do so. I therefore wanted to check if I was also unable to post in an existing topic, but this seems to work.

Btw, I've now figured out why I was unable to create a new topic. My description of the problem included a URL to another forum post, and I'm not (at this point) allowed to include links. However, the error message about the link was flashing by to fast for me to see most times... *sigh*

Bumping this thread: we are still looking for testers.
If you kept any old version of Wasteland 2, it would be very nice of you to try the patches and report your results, directly on the official inXile boards, or just here and I’ll forward them.

These patches are downloaded, so they probably are used too, but having nearly no feedback doesn’t allow improvements, and do not help to keep the motivation going.

Patches from versions 1.7.0.11 and 1.8.0.12 to 1.9.0.13 are now live:
http://www.dotslashplay.it/ressources/wasteland-2/alt/

These are my alternative builds, tonurics is probably going to publish his semi-official ones in a couple days.

If you don’t know how to use them, here you go:

(the rdiffdir command is provided by the duplicity package on common distributions)

I'm not a pro user of Linux, but I know the basics. So I'll give all the help possible.
Due to patch 6 being the last iteration of WL2 "vanilla" (new patches will be for the GotY edition only), I’ve built cumulative patches allowing to upgrade the following GOG releases to the last version without going through the process of iterative patching:
1.0.0.4, 1.1.0.5, 1.3.0.7, 1.6.0.10, 1.7.0.11, 1.8.0.12
Download links can be found there:
https://forums.inxile-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=11081&p=151000#p151000

Should you need a patch for a release not listed here, please tell me and I’ll guide you through the process of sending me the files I need as a base for building these patches.

PS: I created a new GOGmix listing the game I build unofficial Linux patches for:
https://www.gog.com/mix/unofficial_linux_patches
More games could be added to the list, just send me a PM if you have a specific request.

It’s highly unlikely that inXile would publish new patches to Wasteland 2, and this project hasn’t seen a lot of activity lately… So I’m planning to take down the patches in a not-so-far future.

Feel free to download them and host them anywhere if you would like to see them kept alive.
