I was wondering about Wasteland 2. Does it allow direct control of multiple characters in combat, or is it like Fallout where they act automatically?

you control the movement and attacks of all 7 characters (4 of your creation and 3 hires)

at times if your leadership / charisma is low a hire will "go rouge" and move and attack on their own in combat

there are also animal followers that attack on their own
