The game isn't officially released until Sept 19th 7am GMT (12am PST), so there won't be anything to download until then.
Should it be listed in my library at least even if there is nothing to download as of yet?

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't see the "Complete This Order" button off to the right on the last screen.

BTW, which version is better, what do you guys think? Steam or GOG?

I've been thinking that too (have not chosen which key I want yet). I would assume they'll be identical in content.

On the one hand I much prefer GOG overall and would prefer that they get the $, on the other hand Steam has a much better (ie hands-free) update system... I would hate to have to redownload the entire (HUGE) game after an update. Maybe GOG Galaxy will address this concern?

In any case, I don't know if my current computer can run the game (it's well below the minimum specs for the beta), so I'm in no rush to decide :). So I can afford to wait until all the bugs are ironed out and the likelyhood of future updates is low, which leans me towards taking the GOG key.
Most–decent–games include an auto update feature. I know it's somewhat less common in the age of Steam dominion, but still.

And re-downloading large chunk or even the whole game for an update is just lazy publishing. Minimum specs are for a very decent computer that is fully capable of applying binary diff patches.

All in all, the update issue is a inXile matter, will they get lazy on this or not. It has nothing to do with the final distributor. Because I buy my product in store A instead of store B should not impact my gaming experience.
I prefer GOG.com always over Steam. DRM-free and good simple interface with light installers and so on.

I totally forgot about Galaxy!

Got myself GOG code after all, hoping Galaxy would eventually offer more frequent updates than current GOG updates.
Also on the fence here. Not so much because of update concerns, but more in case they release modding/mapping tools which are workshop-only like Escape Goat 2 seem to have turned out.

Manual updates are a bit of a pain, yes. But DRM-free is rather tempting too.
