I'm currently playing through the game a second time and finding that some events play out slightly different even though I'm using pretty much the same methods. Curious as to whether these situations are triggered by a certain action, or if they are just bugs.

Rail Nomad Camp:
* 1st time: Jessie was kidnapped, I didn't find out about it though until I talked to Casey about negotiating peace.
* 2nd time: She wasn't kidnapped. The only thing I can think of that I did differently this time was disarming the bomb on the bike before recruiting Ralphy.

The Prison:
* 1st time: Freeing the prisoners from Pitbull's camp didn't have any consequences.
* 2nd time: Pitbull attacks me shortly after freeing the prisoners. This time I didn't change anything.

I guess I should mention that I was playing on normal difficulty and chose to save AG Center during my first run, and Highpool on ranger difficulty during the second.

In my case both times (Vanilla and DC) you have to let Ralphie talk to her before going to Atchissons map. If you did not visited Parkers' house, then Jessie won't run across settlements and will be "kidnapped". Funny part - you can follow her running after the conversation right through Topekan's camp and no one will bats the eye.. Disarming bomb will help to convince Casey James to stop, IIRC.

Maybe you just dealt with him in Rail Nomad Camp or played so early on it was bugged? IIRC he always get aggressive is he wasn't dispatched in RNC.

Ah yes, I did initially intend to do things differently this time, perhaps letting Ralphie drown or Jessie blow up, but it's so hard to play the bad guy. I guess I'm not a very good roleplayer.

To be clear; the first time I ran across her with Ralphie currently in my party causing him to leave to talk to her, I noticed a disarmed the bomb just in time. This second time I knew what was going to happen and so disarmed the bomb on the way to Ralphie's house.

Re: Pitbull. I didn't know he could be encountered in RNC. Where is he?
He shows up in one of the trailers in that first populated area, near where Ralphie lives. You deliver the letter from the bloke in Ranger Citadel to a woman in there, and then Pitbull shows up. You can choose to fight him there, or pay him some debt (and possibly other options, I don't recall 100%).

I've had Jessie both kidnapped and not, so I guess I must have done things differently. In later playthroughs I disarmed the bomb early, because I knew it was there, so maybe that's important.
To be honest, I do not exactly remember what will happen if you do not disarm the bomb. I may be wrong, but IIRC without that bomb disarmed it will be more difficult to convince Casey James to give up peacefully without stealing golden spike. Sorry, I just don't remember, that happened in my first playthrough of vanilla game around year ago.
Pitbull will be in RNC if you talk with Bowling (guy in workshop, above Melson on left from Mercaptain (I hope she does not smells like ethyl mercaptan). You can convince him to retire from rangers and then visit him and his sister in her home in RNC. There you can either pay their debt to Pitbull or resist and fight him (didn't even thought on letting him take Kate). Fighting him may be difficult as he armed with heavy weapon, BAR I think. My characters never were able to interrupt him, so he'll made at least one attack, so spread your team widest and farthest to minimize hit chance. Killing him will cause Dungforth (misprint intended) to go all crazy on the air and RSM will go permanently hostile (yay, more XP!). It did not prevented me from forging a truce later in vanilla, but I couldn't even talk to bastard in DC. Guess because I ignored that loudspeaker on top of the hill, knowing it's impossible to break through guns and mines and no way to talk to Jobe, and there is no point talking to him. *sigh* one of badly designed corridoring in game.

In theory you should be able to kill him in Prison before going to RNC, but I haven't tried this way, and probably won't - I recently finished DC playhthough and I just can't play it anymore. :)
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I didn't get the quest from Bowling on either playthrough. Could've sworn I tried talking to everyone though.
