Hey guys I was going to get the Steam version Wasteland 2 but since I already got the first game here and when its released it will be a bit cheaper than 60 dollars here I thought I would wait. But has anyone been playing the beta yet? I heard it was like the original Fallout games much more than the Bethesda games have been. This is the game I been waiting a long time for and can't wait to play.........well 60 dollars is a bit steep so I will get it when it is 50 or under.
It's not the full game anyhow, just the beta to get something out there for people to test. I wouldn't sweat waiting till the full release. I'm getting a copy of the full version of WL2 through my Torment backing, but not even worrying about not getting the early access game.

As for you actual question, I don't have any personal experience to how it was :P

I've been playing the beta off and on. I kickstarted the project, so I got in early. I wouldn't commit to the pre-release version unless, like me, you have an unhealthy need for post apocalyptic RPGs. The beta really is more of an alpha at this point, as a majority of the gameplay hasn't been implemented-- it's highly playable but limited. They're still figuring out things like auto-heal vs. using healing items; how combat works; cover and crouching; and even overland travel. So much of the game is getting revamped based on beta feedback, that what I'm playing today will most likely only vaguely resemble what gets released as a final version.

You are correct, this is very much like the original Fallout and will be awesome when it's finished. The game is quite fun even in this early state, but playing the beta means replaying the same portions over and over. The graphics are very nice, especially compared to the original Wasteland (and even Fallout). This looks like a well fleshed out Wasteland/Fallout/Jagged Alliance mash up with nice eye candy, sound, and UI. Oh, who am I kidding, buy the game already, especially if this is the game you've been waiting for. If you can wait, you'll probably get it for cheaper, but it's totally going to be worth $50-60 (I paid more).
