So I am used to playing the original Warlords 2, and the deluxe version has some differences I can't figure out, that being buying new armies. In the original Warlords 2, if I wanted to buy a new army type to produce I could pick most types of armies as an option (magical allies being the exception) however in the deluxe version when I buy a new army type, the vast majority of them are unable to purchase and has a big N/A next to them. Do I need to unlock certain army types, if so how do I do this? I'm kind of confused as to how this works in the Deluxe version

Most likely you don't have sufficient gold to purchase the production of such army types, that's why they are greyed out in the menu.

Thanks for he feedback, maybe that's it, though the game I'm playing now I'm quite rich, so I don't know if that's it, but you maybe right
You can't have more than four unit types in a given city, maybe that's what the problem is. Some cities start with all production slots already used up.
N/A means that it is not available because the army unit has been set to "0" purchase cost. Any unit set to 0 purchase cost cannot be bought in any city. They can still be trained if the city is already set to include the unit from the start.

For scenario makers it is a good way to limit special units to particular cities.

Okayn not that I want to resurrect this thread, but I can't figure out how to set the purchase cost, or where to go for this. Any help would be appreciated

You would have to edit the unit purchase cost in WARSCEN > army editor. This is outside of the actual game.

I re-read your original post and I am wondering what scenario you were playing, because you state that most units are unable to be purchased?
In most scenarios most units can be purchased.
