I understand it's been retrofitted and it's newly released but a lot of progress can be lost thanks to the game not having auto saves. I don't think I can enjoy it if I'm worried about crashes every hour, it'd be no different than pre-release, running in a virtual machine or any other method.

Is it a work in progress? Is it a cursor issue?

Try to change the screen resolution. Sometimes this will fix the issue. I tested the game on my Alienware WIN10 laptop and had no problems. I usually save the game every 6-8 turns anyway, in case I need to change my strategy as the game progresses.
Ok will post back in a few hours, let ya know

Edit: So far so good. another 2hours and no crashes, it even feels a lot smoother and less jittery. Thanks

Good job! I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do. I have been playing this game since its release in 1998.

I think everybody is enjoying the game as much as you do! I can't imagine there's many people who'll buy this game on a whim unless they're a big fan of indie games. I played it religiously as a teenager (I'm 32 now so since 2001'ish) with my friends which was perfect as we all loved LOTR and Magic the Gathering and we would have sleepovers at my place and we'd play this game all night. We'd make up rules (no looking, no exploits 3-5 personality points but no hit point buffs and rules for balance etc), have our own factions, spend hours on certain maps... the drama was real... I remember one friend getting super cocky and he'd be laughing at how many units he has, he didn't care if he lost a few cities... then the upkeep ate him alive and his Empire fell XD Another time he laughed as I attacked his dragon stack with 8 archers, the look on his face when I damn near wiped them out only to mop up the rest. So many good memories, sadly I sat on the CD, snapped it and was unable to find another copy, quite a rare game in the UK especially as I lived in the country. I've been wishing ever since and now I'm rambling on and on lol
