Ultimatly it doesn't matter but GameSpot says this is different from WBCII in that it has a more traditional RTS campaigne, yet the GOG description makes it sound like it has a more open campaign very similar to WBC 2. Neither answer will keep me from buying it in the future but I am curious. Thanks.
WBC2 has no real campaign. It's just a selection of maps that you beat. WBC3 has got a general story that you can pursue. There are various events that occur when you reach various areas, and bits of the plot are revealed as you journey through. However you can wander off and do other maps if you like (though the selection is a lot more limited).

So basically, It's not as strict and structured as WBC1 (which has the best plot), but it does at least have something.

Thank you; I was beginning to think no one was listening. Honestly I love the whole series be it the campagne in #1, or the lack of in #2. I was just curious as to what I should expect. Thanks again.
