Do you mean you couldn't see a game to connect to?
If so how did you try to connect to each other?
TCP/IP internet might work but you'll both need a good internet connection and probably need to live in the same area. If that isn't working you should make sure windows firewall or antivirus software isn't interfering. You can probably just whitelist WBC 3 in those and it should be fine. It's been a while since I've had to deal with port forwarding but depending on your router or firewall settings you might have to muck with that as well. You probably will need to do that if you're using a somewhat public network like a college might have.
LAN you obviously want to be on the same network or it likely won't work.
I haven't checked to be sure but I'd be really surprised if the Enlight server is up and running so that probably won't work.
Otherwise you might try GOG galaxy or some other third party program like hamachi. Again though I suspect most problems with these would be antivirus software, windows firewall, or you need to forward ports.
