Hi,

game is crashing every time directly at launch.

Firewall, AV, disabled, run as admin, game reinstalled ... nothing worked
System: W11, Ryzen 9 5950, 32GB RAM, RTX 3090

Did anyone else has this issue?

Thank a lot
EDIT: I may have found a solution! See bottom.

Hi,

do you get any kind of error message? I couldn't get the Steam Version to start and got a "Bugsplat Error" (seems to be the anti-cheat software or the bugreporter). The Steam forums suggested some issues with the VCRedist, that is shipped with Space Marine and stated verifying the game as solution. That never helped for me and basically ticks the same box as reinstalling, so this doesn't seem to be the problem here.

Since I'm also using a Ryzen 5950, my assumption would be that Space Marine can't handle the number of cores. IIRC I read for other games as well, that multi core system can cause problems. Normally the solution is to assign specific cores via the Windows Task Manager, but this is not an option here as the SpaceMarine.exe doesn't stay long enough in the Task list to change anything.

I remember a tool from the time when the first Dual Core CPUs arrived, where you could configure a *.exe to be directly started on only specific cores, but I can't remember the name.

Sorry for not providing anything more of a solution, but maybe this forum or the GOG support can brainstorm something for this.

Edit: I may have managed to start the game using only one core.

Go to your installation directory and open a command prompt (e.g. by typing 'cmd' in the adress bar.).
Then use 'start /affinity 1 SpaceMarine.exe' . Maybe this also works for you.

Edit 2: Well, one core seems to not be enough. Using 'start /affinity 123 SpaceMarine.exe' seems to work fine.

Hi,

Thank a lot
Your hint with the the cpu core was great, don't taken it into account first, but unfortunately it doesn't worked.

In addition I've disabled the whole Windows security AV, Firewall, App & browser control and device security but no success.

Same bad result as I've installed the game on an HDD to take out if the game has issues with NVME SSD.

As last, I've installed it on my Surface Book2 (W11) and there it runs without any interruptions.

So I guess it's my installation where something is going wrong :(.
I also couldn't start the game on an AMD 5950X. I tried setting processor affinity, and it still didn't work. What did work was disabling one CCD (half the cores) in the BIOS. I'm not sure why this works while processor affinity settings don't. I've had the same problem with other old games before, where they somehow can't cope with a CPU that has too many cores, even if they aren't using them.

I hope they can fix this, because I need all my cores for other things, and can't be bothered to reboot into the BIOS every time I want to play.

Hi,

I've disabled 1 CCD and it's working.
re-enabling the second same as before game is crashing...

hope as well, they can provide a fix.
Just one more thought: I previously couldn't get the game to launch with the 'start /affinity' thingy, too. The disabling of 1 CCD didn't work.
But after the last reinstall it worked via command line.

Maybe try reinstalling and then starting the game directly with the command line (without first trying to start it 'normally').

But I hope for a more official statement or fix, too, that'd be great.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi,

tested your described approach as well, but no success.
Disabling 1 CCD is the only working solution.

I've opened a ticket to Sega as well, at least to address this issue.
Finally got around to installing this. Working just fine with no issues.

My specs:

Windows 10 PRO 64bit
i7-4770 3.4 Ghz
32GB RAM
Nvidia EVGA 1660 Super GPU
If anyone is still having issues, this might help:

Look in "Multi-core systems" section under "Other Stuff".

Hello fellas, a player from distant future of 2024. Game still crashing on Windows 10. I just get this DINPUT8.dll github.com/adrian-lebioda/SpaceMarineCoreFix/releases and put on the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine

Problem solved here!
