Has anyone launched the game on Linux? I installed it on my Linux Mint 18.3 laptop using PlayOnLinux with Wine 3.9, Windows 98 compatibility, emulated 1024x768 virtual desktop. The game runs well but without music and sound effects (shots, explosions, speech etc.). Still it is better than nothing - I was not able to launch it on Windows 7.

Have you tried changing the sound output device used by wine? I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 and Wine 1.x, and Rites of War runs fine.

Yes, and nothing happens. BTW I also tried to launch Rites of War but I don't know how to change color depth in wine to 16 bit. Without it I see only black screen and hear music.
Strange, Rites of War gives me a message at startup complaining that it wants a 16 bit display but it runs fine anyway
I ve just been installing RoW on Ubuntu 18.04 with Wine 3.0.1. Same result as you. Opening cinematic plays, then a black screen with music. Someone on the Playonlinux forums suggested using Wine Staging and doing a manual install, setting the wine version as you go. I'm using a virtual machine with Xubuntu -16.04, and Wine 1.6. Works fine with Win 7 compatibility mode.
