I'm only in the third mission but am already eating up Blind Grenades rapidly. They are my go-to method of moving my marines towards the enemy when I am out of cover (Mission 3 starts from high ground). Frag grenades also seem to kick up dust and there are far more around than Blind.

Are Frag grenades usable as a poor man's Blind as long as marines move rapidly? I haven't had time to experiment.

Are you opening all the crates on each level? Also, be sure to run the available side missions, usually have 4 or so crates in there as well. You should be swimming in grenades after a while.
No, I'm not. Will look at this, thanks.

I thought that kit reset to a standard template each time I prepare for a mission - there are always four sets of bolter ammo per marine that I need to swap out. Am I wrong about looted kit going missing, or is there a specific place to store stuff that was retrieved in the previous mission? Or are the stocks of available grenades replenished automatically from the ones I bring back from a mission?

Correct, it always resets. Annoyingly.

So I am not totally understanding what you mean by looted. If you are referring to looted chaos marines, you can use the items within the level but they go away after the mission. Story line driven thing to maintain some balance, essentially too corrupt to use long term by pure marines. Anyway, the items you get from crates do sustain and you do not need to actually "loot" them in the classic sense. You just need to open the crate. No need to collect them all on marines. Though you may certainly wish to if your grenade usage is that high.

Grenades and ammunition are not restocked by anything save what you find. This sounds much more menacing than it really is if you are doing the side missions and opening crates. Also this exploit if you choose to use it. Be forewarned...

You may have noticed partially spent clips regenerate after a mission. So if you use 15 of 20 shots, you get 20 on the clip again. You can completely suspend ammunition loss by simply never using the last shot in a magazine. Frankly, this only ever matters on rocket ammunition in my experience. If you get a particularly rare load out like melta rockets, you may wish to use this. No impact on grenades.
