Most games collect data on players nowadays, including every single game made with Unity3D. The difference with this one is that they warn you about it and allow you to turn it off.

Instead of praising them for this, they've got a ton of one-star reviews here all talking about spyware.

It would certainly be better if they made it opt-in, or if the spying wasn't there at all. No question. If every game that spied on people got criticized like this, if there was some actual accountability, then I would celebrate that. But that's not the world we live in, and criticizing this game for actually disclosing the spying that they're doing is really counterproductive.

I disagree. Any game that collects data from gamers (with warning or without) should be criticized. Why in the hell do they need all this data? How did devs made games earlier, when they didn't have to spy on everybody? F*** that! You do dumbs**t - you're gonna be criticized. End of story.
With newer patcher there is an option to disable data collecting.
