If the graphics or audio are stuttering, try changing 'CPU cycles' when the game is open.

You can do this with CTRL+F11 & CTRL+F12. I'm playing this on a modern AMD cpu and it seems to work best at around 65%.

Can also try enabling double buffering in graphics options to make it look smoother (button next to Play on GOG > additional executables > graphics settings)
