Hello, Fellow GoG Gamers!

So this has been brought up several times by different people on these forums, now its my turn :D

I wanted to play a few games of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans with my friend, and we ended up with the whole tunneling issue. We both have the GoG version of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, and we tried doing the IPX = False to True method but it gets a bit difficult here. I don't think we have a seperate DoSBox folder, only what came with the Warcraft GoG, and the only .conf files are:

dosbox_warcraft
dosbox_warcraft_client
dosbox_warcraft_server
dosbox_warcraft_single

Any of those conf files has IPX set to true, but this still doesn't allow any multiplayer. The Seperate DOSBOX folder doesn't have a config file but has a GOGDOSCONFIG that when selected states: Run DoSBox configurator from menu, also making it pretty useless. Anyways, long story short = help me with some advice guys, I really want to play some Warcraft multiplayer with my buddy. Thanks!
So you did not change conf files too much? not network related strings? Use MORE section either of OS Start Menu or GOG Galaxy game entry next to regular launch. There is starting mp session launch option. Also idk why its not default option for every GOGs DosBox releases (for uptoday builds at least) - GOGDOSBOXlauncher are well - the launcher. I dont remember did it include option to chose launch SP or MP, did it? There 3 tabs there two for general and SP configuration. Id remember wht is in 3rd TAB.

You are on similar OS and OS update builds? Seems first ofc Microsoft side issue - there is issues connect differ OS incl differ Windows. Well known Windows 8 and 10+ bug not solving in decade.

And im afraid i must said Warcraft 1 suffer from desync bug issue, which never solved. As forums reported. Maybe it was solved in very latest build-in patch 1.21h or something like that.
Did WC1 really worth it after Warcraft 2 BnetEd (and now WC2 Remaster)?
(more recent reports are in no use cause of Windows bugs, and i dont remember how old are such desync mentions and id they cover very latest build on "very-non-latest" Windows, i think i did see that for Win7 so i assume bug wasnt solved by Blizz)

There is Stratagus: Wargus 1 (aka War1gus) and WinWar 1 remakes. Hmm as far as i remember WinWar author also mention desync bug in original game. Still not worth it maybe.

So Im slowly learning more and more about this.

I tried playing the whole IPX Warcraft GoG from two computers located at the same house and it works like a charm, but obviously two computers that are not in the same house won't work this way. Im going to try this whole thing with Hamachi next, maybe that will work.

P.S: I do know about Warcraft 2 and War1Gus but no, i just want to play classic Warcraft 1 with two computers located not in the same house, lets hope Hamachi works!
I know Hamachi more canonical*, for me too. Was. I found its more useful/easier for RadminVPN tool (not part of regular Radmin, by same authors).
And GameRanger.
Both allow creation private rooms as well as have pre-existed rooms per game.

At same time as more tools come/improved (GameRanger are oldest of nowadays available tools) Hamachi become shareware limited functionality. Should work though, for 4 players at same time last time i check it.

Both PC must set for their online connection that it is private networks (not a public one) secured, while OS suggest by default set public and so suggested it would apply additional security to it. Regular online connection and VirtualLAN to private.
Turn off Windows Firewall for private networks.
There is another bug but introduced this time in Windows 7 - sometimes this option switch to public networks although keep saying it is private. Firewall/security applied. I did faced once issues connect two LAN on real LAN PCs and switching back-and-forth this option did the trick. Happened after goes to wait/sleep mode on notebook.

DosBox have own IPX wrapper and its functionality described on DosBox wiki. There is PCGamingWiki article for DosBox but MP section suggest go to DosBox wiki for details. Im familiar only with Windows IPX and its wrappers. I did install it manually before using any GOG builds for other games.
