I understand it's an old game and doesn't have any sort of server. But maybe someone knows a gimmick to play online with other people. So I could do a match against a friend for fun that lives far from me. Thanks ahead!

Have you tried Gameranger? I don't know anything about it, but I'd say it's a good starting point.

I have, gamerangers has a listing of their supported games on their website, sadly not the case for Warcraft 1, I also thought of Himachi to create a virtual lan but doesn't seem compatible with DOS.
