Testing WC2BNE on a Windows 11 system and the initial Blizzard lightning logo zap sounds ok, but then the menus have no clicking and there is no background music playing.

In an actual game I cannot hear the units voices when clicking, no music, no other sounds. None of the intro talking either.

It *could* just be my win11 install, but the fact that the blizzard logo sound works leaves me hanging.

This release has issues, which I'm learning is not uncommon for GOG releases even though they are supposed to have a guarantee to work as part of the appeal of buying games from them.

Try running it in compatibility mode for XP and running as admin.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\
and remove WarcraftII\

reinstall for offlien build or do verify game files for GOG Galaxy online build. Verift at least twice in a row (current Galaxy client always redownlaod soething and wont tell what exactly, each downlaoding shouldbe re-checked).

close any non-needed applications. Including ones from sys.tray and that ones that looks like drivers software (but they not). Inout devices applications or sound mixers. They nto needed actually and alwsys lead to troubles.
