It is Win version only.
War1 actually too. DOS with Mac DosBox(er). Someone said there is A.Mac version inside disc image (i cant get access to it from Win to double check it).

If you find Wind emulator - you can play. Maybe even DX+ version. Eomething like PlayOnMac with WindeD3D wrapper taken from Wine emulator.

Hey thanks so much for a response! I have played War1 through a DosBox wrapper on my Mac. So what you're saying is I should be able to do the same with this downloadable version of War2 from gog? Just confirming before I purchase it.
There is such things as PlayOnLinux, playit. And one for MAC - PlayOnMac. Theoretically there is emulation way to play anything. As for reality...
Go to AppleGamingWiki and one website they linked on main page. On Wiki go to Warcraft articles. Mostly they describe emulation Windows way to play. Sometimes instruction for emulate Legacy Mac.
In case you have issues finding AppleGamingWiki - its linked on PCGamingWiki too.

For emulation PCGW cover mostly PC-LIN platform. WineDB website link on Warcraft article can be useful to play on Mac. Mac emulators wctually based on Wine or its WineD3D component. Mac and Linux emulation share same issues.

The easier way is emulate Windows port. WineSkin or whatever. Best way - emulate native Apple Mac port or Sega Saturn PAL CD disc. Sega easier to emulate, both need to be downloaded, Sega easier to find than Mac. Still Win easier. Still Sega version are superior. To both Windows and Mac. And even Warcraft 3 lost UI+control features present in Warcraft II: The Dark Saga (which released before even BattleNet edition) or any else RTS come when Bnet released.

You can try to find Sega port on Internet Archive. One of the possible disc image dump are redump-dump. Appear on Internet Archive and usually stay there (sometimes copyrithers come to Archive org too).
Reference:
http://redump.org/disc/3585/
http://redump.org/disc/3585/cue/
archive probablywill be named after cue file you can download here.

I found more correct disc image in img+ccd+sub(+cue) format, from TruRip Sega Saturn set - but cant bring you a link... hmm or actually i can. Here it is - what to do with this CRC HASH (aka magnet) info is up to you to googleit:

Weirdly enough there has been an official Mac version here on GOG (see: https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/world-of-warcraft/22940764/warcraft-orcs-and-humans-and-warcraft-ii-battle-net-edition-now-available-on-gog-com)
