Does anyone know how to run War Wind I and II with dxwnd in windowed mode? I'm now trying to run the first part with dxwnd in windowed mode for a couple of hours but the only result is a black window.

My CD-versions of both parts are working fine with dxwnd. I'm now a bit disappointed for buying those games again, only for having them in my gog library. :(

Edit: I solved the problem by renaming / deleting the ddraw.dll in the game folder. Now the game runs smoothly in a 1200x900 Window :)

As I wrote, just rename / delete the ddraw.dll in the game main folder of War Wind. You can download DXWND here https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/

I attach some Images with the diffrent steps using DXWND. At last just set the window size as you prefere.

Thanks! This is really helpful. War Wind is great but it is nice to be able to not have the game freak out whenever saving it.
DxWnd works and thank you for the help. However I'm having a couple of issues and I'm not experienced enough with DxWnd to know what settings might fix them.

One problem is that the game's mouse cursor "flickers" on and off whenever moving it, which is distracting.

The bigger problem is that the cursor leaves the window when it reaches the edges, so scrolling around the map is impossible.

I've been changing various settings to try and fix these but nothing is having any effect. Do you know of any solutions?

EDIT: I fixed the problem with the cursor leaving the window - set Cursor Clipper in the Input tab to LOCKED. Now I'm just trying to sort out the flickering issue.

Do you have a solution so far? Couldn't make any solution for me so far. Happy holidays, btw :)

Unfortuantely no. I ended up going through every tab of options in DxWnd and changed 3 or 4 at a time, relaunch the game, exit and then try another batch of options. But nothing made a difference as far as the flickering cursor problem. It may just be something that is inherent to Dxwnd, but I honestly don't have the knowledge to know what a possible fix might be.
