"IP" is an acronym for "intellectual property". And, yes, they made the game but they don't own the Wallace and Gromit franchise (which is a stop-motion film franchise). They merely had the licensing rights to create a game based on the franchise and sell that game for a certain number of years. Now that license has run out.

I had gotten things mixed up...so, they own the rights to Sam and Max (not
the original game), but they licensed Wallace and Grommit.
Telltale doesn't own the rights to the Sam & Max characters since Steve Purcell still owns the rights to them.

But, they probably do own the full rights to the Sam & Max games they created If their contract terms in their license from Steve Purcell are the same as those that LucasArts licensed from Steve Purcell for Sam & Max Hit the Road.

Here's a quote from a Telltale staff member about what happened to Wallace & Gromit:

"Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures has been withdrawn from sale on digital distribution platforms due to the expiration of our digital distribution agreement with Aardman Studios. We currently do not have any plans to renew this agreement at this time."

So, does anyone have active distribution rights for the games, or are they OOP completely for the moment?
