ok so I heard rumors about achievments on the game, and supposedly there is a achievement for beating any level in under four minutes. I completed the first level (jungle of the claw) in 3:08 (my best time ever!) but I got no such achievement! I even watched a youtube video where someone else did this and got the achievement. I'm wondering if maybe the achievements are part of some sponsor site or online version of the game...? I certainly have not come across any in-game achievements.

I think achievements are a Steam-only feature. You won't find them in a GOG game unless developers specifically implemented a dedicated menu.
