My wife and I like to play ARPGs like this together, and we're wondering if we can play together over LAN (just us two, no one else) cooperatively with one copy of the game.

No, sorry. It is not possible to play via LAN. You can play the game via Galaxy. You also can not play together with two copys over galaxy because the game has an automatch function and you can not select a person who you want to play with. There is no Lobby......it is a shame......sorry.

Oh wow, that's terrible. Needing two copies would be fine, but being unable to choose who you play with is ridiculous. Thanks for the information! I know to skip this one.

But there is another good thing if you want to play with your wife: Couch-COOP. Since Version 2.0 this mode is available and works fine. You can play together at the same machine if you have 2 gamepads.

And thank you as well! I didn't know about couch co-op, which is something my wife and I enjoy doing through our SteamLink. :)
I'm really interested in this game, but I would like to know if I can play this game in LAN offline mode like others of this genre: ex. Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, Torchlight 2...
LAN Co-op works perfectly fine, even with a single copy.
Just disconnect your PC from the internet, then click online game.

You will get an error stating that online initialization failed and you are presented with an option to host or joind a LAN game.

Reconnect and repeat on the second PC and voila, you can join the LAN game.

Suggestion to the devs:
Make it a menue choice to either use online or LAN pls.
