The top review suggests that there is no LAN or direct connect, and seemingly that the singleplayer will crash if it's unable to connect to the internet. Is this still true?
The review:
"Multiplayer requires creating an online account (no LAN or direct-connect mode), which is borderline already, but the game also dials home when loaded, and if prevented from connecting home for "permission" (by a sensibly configured "default deny" policy, for example), it gracelessly crashes to the desktop.
If that sort of thing was okay, I'd be willing to buy games on Steam."
