SOLVED
Has anyone been able to get the GOG version of Venetica working on Steam Deck? It works fine on my Linux desktop, but keeps failing to launch on Deck. It gives me an Unexpected Crash error upon startup. The proton log reveals this error:
D3D9: EnterFullscreenMode: Failed to change display mode
D3D9: Failed to set initial fullscreen state
I'm assuming it's a resolution issue? Been trying to get this game working on Deck for a month, hoping each new Proton GE update will fix it. This is the only GOG game I haven;t been able to get working (DOSBox games don't work either, but you can at least workaround that by using standalone DOSBox and making a game shortcut).
UPDATE: Saw a post on Protondb that mentioned having to set up a virtual desktop resolution of 1024x768 via winecfg. I gave it a shot through Protontricks, and it worked!
