So I have the moonblade and I'm trying to go through the cave with the lectors, but they still don't stay dead. I don't understand why.

The inventory shows that the moonblade is equipped, but the animation still looks like the poker. I don't know if this is normal for the game or not.

I've really enjoyed the game to this point, I'm just not sure how I can progress if the moonblade isn't living up to its advertisement.

If the animation is like the poker then there's something wrong, it should definitely look more like a sickle after the repair.

They don't necessarily die the instant they go down though, you tend to have to whack them a lot. It's actually possible (and quicker) to attack them with the sword first, then switch to the moonblade to finish them off (though I usually just keep mashing the button and whack them with the moonblade as you can usually kill them before they can do anything).

I think I figured it out. First I repaired the game, then I double-clicked on the weapon that I wanted to use. It seems to work now.

For future reference: the (default) keyboard key to cycle through the different types of weapons is Q. This will auto-select the best weapon you currently have for each of the four weapon categories, skipping any category you don't have any examples of.

Also, despite this being a game from the late '00s, the manual is actually halfway decent, and has some useful info that the game might not give. I'd recommend looking through it once you've played enough of the game to be familiar with the basics, or if there's something you don't understand with the interface, controls, etc.
