Has anyone found a way to restore the full sound effects?
high rated
So going into the folder and finding vod-eng-game.conf open this file with notepad or whatever you use and replace @VEIL.COM with setup after doing this save the change and run the game, it will now run the setup instead, change the sound config to SOUNDBLASTER and change nothing else, then go back into vod-eng-game.conf and replace setup with @VEIL.COM and sound effects like the intro voice over and Khairns laugh should be restored

Big thanks to Kain on steam, I don't know if it fixes everything but this is the best I know
This worked perfectly. Thank you!
Worked awesome, restoring not only intro sound effect/voice but all game effects. Thx so much!
Thanks for the info! This worked perfectly!
Only problem with that is the SB music sounds like canned sh!t that's been left to rot in the hot sun. The Roland tracks, by contrast, are superb . . .

Here's what I did to get both voices and Roland soundtrack both working. (Just tested and verified this.)

Follow instructions from Harryrayjaxx above to change the vod-eng-game.conf file to use "setup" instead of "@Veil.com"
(File located at C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\Veil of Darkness\ )

Now follow the instructions here:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Veil_of_Darkness#Issues_fixed

**Note the GRAPH.INI file it mentions is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\Veil of Darkness\GAME\VEIL\

I used Notepad++ with the default Hex Editor Add On to change the byte value mentioned in the pc gaming wiki.

Now reopen the vod-eng-game.conf file and change setup back to "@Veil.com"

Run the game.

This is the best way to experience the game. The Roland music makes a world of difference.

Thank you! I had simply given up and this brought me back!

P.S. here is the same information spelled out in a way that made more sense to my old, addled brains (no offence meant to PcGamingWiki) - I don't know why Google didn't point me here from the start . . . [fourth reply from the top]

Also : there was something wrong with my Notepad++ apparently so I used this : https://www.snapfiles.com/get/hexeditorneo.html

Notepad ++ is not a Hex Editor!
