Well...topic said it all.
I am playing a gadeteer with 1h+shield setup, the idea was to counter some of the fragility.
From the description i expected to block all nonaoe, non-groundeffect-attacks but...but i had to notice that i can only block basic meleeattacks.

Do i miss something or did i waste my points and should have put them into armor instead?
After playing with blocking for some time now that it work correctly, seems that i just had a bad luck streak with blocking ranged attacks and stuff like this.

I am still unsure about balancing compared to armor. Lets say you use 3 cp
3 cp armor give you +90% Integrity and 15% DR against all damage and you can use any equipment
3 Points block give you +36% blockchance, the ability to wild all shilds and ..surprise you need to use a shild :)

I tested both and blocking felt weak, expect for the situation if you allow yourself to be attacked by several week enemys like spiders. Did someone tested blocking deeply?

Hey there!

3 CP in Armorer gives you +90% integrity and 15% DR from direct attacks only, not all sources of damage. So that would be the melee and ranged basic attacks.

As for the blocking talent, yeah, it might feel weak because the audiovisual feedback is not that strong, but especially with heavy shields, you will take a LOT less damage, as the majority of attacks are considered "direct", which shields block. If you go full ham on it and crank it up to rank 5, the stun or return damage traits are very strong, making you a facetanking beast, especially if you also put 5 points into Armorer. I agree that shield-blocking is not very fun, at least not until you get to rank 5.

Thank you for your remarks!
